Prime Minister Donald Tusk is to pay a visit to London next Monday, 18 April, for talks with PM David Cameron on cooperation within the European Union and the situation in North Africa.

Britain is taking part in the military intervention in Libya and is reviewing plans to deliver so-called ‘non-lethal’ equipment to the insurgent forces in the country.

British diplomats have also been holding talks with rebel leaders in Benghazi, which is still in the control of the insurgency.

Mr Tusk has ruled out Poland’s involvement in any military action in Libya, while declaring the country’s readiness to participate in a programme of humanitarian assistance to Libya.

The talks between the Polish and British prime ministers are also to cover the priorities of the Polish presidency in the EU, which begins in July, and Anglo-Polish trade.

Mr Tusk was due to go to London on 21 March. According to unofficial sources, the visit was postponed because Mr Cameron wanted to concentrate in the talks on Libya alone, whereas the Polish Prime Minister wished to discuss several other major European issues as well. (mk)
