Tusk will present Poland’s priorities at the European Parliament on Wednesday in what has become tradition when a country takes over the six-month rotating presidency.
Before Tusk takes the floor tomorrow, Poland’s Europe Minister Mikolaj Dowgielewicz met with the European Parliament’s Committee for Constitutional Affairs.
Talking to Polish Radio, Dowgielewicz said that the discussion’s agenda addressed the challenges facing the EU at the moment, including fiscal worries but also a “crisis of trust.”
“We spoke a lot about the present state of the EU, and about the challenges ahead,” Dowgielewicz said.
“A lot of time was spent discussing the economic crisis, but also the crisis of trust in the EU. What was very visible during today’s discussions, however, was that priorities concerning the open-door policy or the expansion of neighbourhood relations and security, which are important for Poland, were well received,” Poland’s Europe Minister added.
Prime Minister Tusk’s visit to Strasbourg is also to include a meeting with the President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, as well as the heads of the parties present in the chamber. (jb)
