Polish foreign minister hands over reins of Visegrad 4 presidency

Poland's foreign minister attended a ceremony in Budapest on Wednesday handing over the presidency of the Visegrad Group to Hungary.

Minister Radolsaw Sikorski had talks with his Hungarian counterpart Janos Martonyi at the Fisherman's Bastion on Castle Hill in Budapest,prior to the ceremony to hand over the six-month presidency, beginning on 1 July, of the group which includes Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary.
Minister of Justice Orsat Miljenic from Croatia, which officially joins the EU on 1 July, also attended the talks.
Minister Sikorski also received a unique copy of a pre-war Polish Mors submachine gun from the collection at the Military Museum in Budapest.
“Gestures like this build friendship between our nations,” Poland's foreign minister said on receiving the sub-machine-gun.
The gun will now be on display at the Army Museum in Bydgoszcz, central Poland, Sikorski's home town. (pg)
