An online portal Intercept has reported that US and UK intelligence services have stolen data from a manufacturer of mobile-phone SIM cards allowing them to listen in on people’s conversations. Poland is among the major markets for the manufacturer.
Netherlands-based card manufacturer Gemalto has confirmed an investigation into the allegations.
Intercept’s publication, based on fresh documents from Snowden, a former employee of the National Security Agency (NSA), who is now in Moscow, implicates NSA and Britain’s GCHQ. (an)
