“I'm going to Washington at the invitation of Secretary of Defense. It is an expression of mutual goodwill to maintain a momentum of very close and growing cooperation,” Polish Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak said before leaving for the US.
He added that the trip follows a decision taken in April that talks about an air defense system – including medium-range missiles – would be led between the Polish Government and that of the United States.
“But [we will also be] overviewing cooperation within NATO, bilateral cooperation, continuous rotating [military] presence in Poland, various allied projects, as well as the implementation of a plan for preparedness,” Siemoniak, who is also Poland’s deputy PM said.
The next NATO summit will be held in mid-2016 in the Polish capital, Warsaw. (rg)
