Polish travellers warned that terrorist threat still looms

Poland's newly appointed Special Services Coordinator has stressed that Poles are at risk of falling victim to terrorist attacks in North Africa and the Middle East.

Speaking with the TVN 24 news channel, Marek Biernacki warned that the latest intelligence indicates that more terrorist attacks are expected, a week after over 30 tourists were killed in Tunisia.
“The risk of attacks indeed concerns those two favourite destinations of Poles, namely Tunisia and Egypt,” said Special Services Coordinator Biernacki, who works in Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz's chancellery.
“In order to achieve their political and financial objectives, supporters of the caliphate of the Islamic State Caliphate and the circle of radicals linked to al-Qaeda will continue to attack defenseless, holidaying foreigners,” he added.
Biernacki urged Poles to check information on the foreign ministry's website, where a special section is dedicated to 'safe holidays', with downloads and regular updates available to users. (nh)
