The European Commission has overruled a demand made by 11 EU member states, including Poland, to drop its proposed equal pay rules for delegated workers in the bloc.

Warsaw has said that the EU’s directive on such workers goes against the interests of Polish companies.
In March, the Commission proposed reforms giving workers temporarily delegated to work abroad the right to the same compensation and bonuses as their local colleagues.
The revision proposal came after Western countries such as France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands said current laws are unfair as they give low-cost workers from abroad an advantage over their local peers.
Employers from Central and Eastern Europe, meanwhile, argue that the new laws would have a negative effect on the competitiveness of CEE workers in the bloc.
Poland sends the largest number of workers abroad - nearly half a million of the two million such employees across the bloc. (aba)
