Foreign intelligence services may be trying to undermine negotiations between the Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW) and Armenia for the production of banknotes, says Gazeta Polska.

The Warsaw-based PWPW is considered one of the most modern and advanced companies of its type in Europe. It is of strategic importance for Poland’s security as it produces not only banknotes and passports but also identity documents for policemen and other uniformed services.
In recent years, the Polish Security Printing Works has established a strong position in Armenia, supplying e-IDs and biometric passports as well as the software and the necessary equipment to operate the new technology.
According to Gazeta Polska Codziennie there is much to indicate that the latest attempts to undermine the credibility of the Polish company, including an article in the weekly Newsweek Polska, were inspired by foreign intelligence services, Armenia being a trusted ally of President Putin’s Russia.
