Experts say that the missiles allow sites in Poland and the Danish straits, connecting the Baltic Sea to the North Sea, to be potentially targeted.

Interfax reported that the squadron is equipped with Onyx missiles.

The Onyx system was used in combat for the first time several days ago in Syria.

Some experts have said this indicates that Moscow is treating the war in Syria as a testing ground for new types of weapons.

Last month NATO’s Secretary General said he was concerned about Russia’s deployment of Iskander ballistic missiles to the Kaliningrad exclave bordering Poland. (mol/pk)
