Polish president to visit Israel, Palestinian territories

Polish President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda start an official visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories on Monday.

During the visit, Duda will meet his Israeli counterpart Reuven Rivlin and Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, the Polish president's aide Krzysztof Szczerski said.
Duda will also hold a “long” talk with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which will deal with peace in the Middle East and Polish-Israeli relations, Szczerski said.
Szczerski said the Polish president's visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories supports “Poland's policy presence and interest in world peace and security issues”.
He adding that the visit was part of Duda's campaign to secure for Poland a non-permenent place on the UN's Security Council for 2018-2019.
Duda's visit is to end on 19 January. (vb/pk)
