German police have said damages caused by the alleged gang are EUR 10 million.

According to Polish police, the six people detained in Germany – all Poles – are part of a 16-strong gang which allegedly stole cars in Germany and “legalised” them in Poland.

One of the men is accused of running the group, mediating translations and financing the operation.

Arrest warrants for a further five suspects have been issued.

During the bust, 18 luxury cars were seized, along with carjacking equipment, fake license plates, forged car registration documents, mobile phones, and laptops.

The joint Polish-German investigation into the alleged crime ring was launched in February last year. (vb)
