The European Parliament has decided it will not support a group of European experts to fight Russian propaganda, Polish Radio has learned.

At the end of 2016, the European Commission announced it would expand the group, the station said, adding that member states had also said they would earmark more support for the expert group.
At the time, the Commission concluded that the EU struggle with disinformation from the Kremlin could be compared to “David fighting Goliath” – on the one hand, a small group of specialists with modest funding, on the other, the Russian propaganda machine and the billions allocated for this purpose.
Polish Radio reported on Monday that some of the experts of the group have been posted to fight the propaganda of the so-called Islamic State and to deal with issues stemming from the Western Balkans.
