Some 3,300 candidates are vying for 650 seats in the British parliament.

Polls suggest the Conservative Party, which has been in power since 2010, will keep its absolute majority.

Some 46.1 million of the UK’s 65.1 million residents – which includes nearly one million Poles – are eligible to vote.

Exit polls will be revealed at 11 pm CEST and the final result is expected on Friday morning.

Britons decided in a referendum to quit the European Union in June 2016.

In March the United Kingdom triggered Article 50 procedures, which launched a two-year negotiation process.

Guaranteeing the rights of EU-citizens in the UK after Brexit will be a top priority for Poland in the talks. (vb)
