A series of posters featuring portrait photographs of Ukrainians involved in fighting Russian aggression in their country have been displayed around Hamburg for the G20 summit.

Behind the posters in Hamburg, northern Germany, is the Ukraine Crisis Media Center which was set up during the Ukrainian crisis in 2014 to keep the world up to date with news from the region.
The posters feature the slogan: “Look closely at their faces” and aim to generate “more active opposition” to Russia, which the centre called “an Empire of Evil”.
“The project has a very important goal — to remind the leaders of the free world that back in 1994 Ukraine received security guarantees according to the Budapest memorandum after it gave up the world’s third largest nuclear arsenal,” Gennadiy Kurochka, co-founder of Ukraine Crisis Media Center, said.
But the organisation said that Ukrainian nationals – “warriors, volunteers, medics, chaplains, and journalists” – were alone in fighting Russian aggression.
“The G20 Summit is a good opportunity for the international leaders to force Russia to stop and start acting within the legal framework,” Natalia Popovych, a co-founder of Ukraine Crisis Media Center, said. (vb/pk)
