As he continues his visit to the United States, Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski is on Tuesday scheduled to join President Andrzej Duda for the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

On Monday, Waszczykowski attended a meeting of world leaders on ways of reforming the United Nations. He also met with the foreign ministers of Sweden and Ukraine and spoke with members of Jewish organisations.
At the UN conference, US President Donald Trump called for making the United Nations more efficient and effective.
According to Waszczykowski, proposals for trimming UN bureaucracy are headed in the right direction, but reducing the organisation’s budget by Western countries carries a risk.
"If someone reduces spending, then someone else may be tempted to offer money in exchange for a greater share and influence on the institution, so this is a risky proposition," Waszczykowski said, as quoted by Polish Radio’s IAR news agency. (gs/pk)
