Duda and Tillerson agreed a road map for developing “Polish-US economic and political relations, taking in international security,” Polish presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski told journalists after the meeting.
Military and economic partnership, also within the energy sector, and collaboration on the global arena as part of the United Nations Security Council were singled out as the first steps outlined in the road map.
The political figures also discussed the modernisation of the Polish army, along with military collaboration, including US contingents stationed in Poland “currently and [those arriving] in the near future.”
“Our talks have shown how prominently Poland’s and US’ viewpoints and stands converged in the crucial components of our foreign policies,” Szczerski said.
Szczerski said that backing the Three Seas Initiative, an economic forum bringing together Central and Eastern European countries, was one of the “key goals” shared by the two countries. He added that there was “significant support from the US administration for the project.”
Rex Tillerson flew in to Warsaw on Friday for a two-day visit. On Saturday, Tillerson meets with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz. (aba/di)
