Russia is trying to avoid questions about the poisoning of Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal in London last month, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said on Wednesday.

The organisation’s special session at the Hague, requested by Moscow, was called to discuss the suspected nerve agent attack on Skripal and his daughter Yulia on March 4 in the southern English town of Salisbury.
London said the substance was Russian-made novichok and British Prime Minister Theresa May blamed Moscow for the attack.
But Moscow denied the claim, accusing the UK of stirring up anti-Russian hysteria. Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service chief Sergey Naryshkin said the attack was a “grotesque provocation” by British and US security services.
But the OPCW said Moscow was using a misinformation tactic to avoid answering questions about the Skripal case.
Meanwhile, the Independent website on Tuesday said British experts were unable to prove that the nerve agent came from Russia.
Also, Moscow’s proposal of a joint Russo-British inquiry into the poisoning was rejected by London’s representative at the OPCW meeting. (vb/gs)
