European Council head Donald Tusk is likely to be questioned in Warsaw in early October by a special Polish parliamentary commission probing a notorious pyramid scheme, the commission’s head, Małgorzata Wassermann, said on Friday.

The Amber Gold pyramid scheme saw thousands of Poles cheated out of their savings from 2009 to 2012, at a time when Tusk was Poland’s prime minister.
Amber Gold had promised customers high returns on investments in gold, but the firm folded in August 2012.
According to media reports, some 19,000 customers were swindled out of a combined PLN 851 million (EUR 200 million) at the time.
Wassermann was on Friday quoted as saying that Tusk was likely to be called to testify as a witness in Warsaw on October 2.
She told Poland’s PAP news agency that her commission would accept the October 2 date for questioning Tusk requested by his lawyer Roman Giertych.
She said October 2 was one of three possible dates that the panel had set for Tusk to choose from.
Wassermann said in mid-July that the commission wanted to set a date for the hearing well in advance so that Tusk could fit it into his calendar.
"I hope it will be a productive inquiry session," Wassermann said on Friday, as quoted by PAP.
Wassermann has previously told the news agency that her commission would question Tusk in the final stages of its inquiry into the investment scam, following hearings of other former government officials as well as Amber Gold employees, law enforcers and tax and financial supervision officials.
She recently announced the commission was planning to submit a final report on its work in November, PAP reported.
Tusk was the prime minister of Poland from 2007 until 2014, when he resigned to become president of the European Council, a key European Union leadership position.
