Polish-American motorcycle clubs and friends from American groups took part in the parade, which ended with a patriotic picnic, the Polish public broadcaster said.

The midwestern US city of Chicago is said to be home to the world’s second-largest population of Poles after Warsaw.

During a meeting with the Polish community in Chicago, Polish President Andrzej Duda in May thanked Polish Americans for “keeping Poland in your hearts."

Poland re-emerged as an independent state on November 11, 1918, the day World War I ended, after 123 years of partition by Russia, Austria and Prussia.
