No use of chemical weapons can be left unanswered, Polish President Andrzej Duda said on Wednesday at the meeting of the UN Security Council in New York.

Duda said that "brutal attacks”, directed mainly against civilians, aimed to intimidate the international community.

The United Nations community cannot accept such methods, and inaction would only encourage perpetrators, the Polish president added.

Duda told the UN Security Council that perpetrators must be brought to justice.

Key points of a three-day trip by Duda to United States included a high-level General Debate and the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

At a meeting of international leaders in New York on Tuesday, Duda said that Poland would rejoin United Nations peacekeeping missions.
