The Rzeczpospolita daily claimed the conservative government in Warsaw was afraid that Macron would use his trip to voice support for Poland’s opposition ahead of the European Parliament elections in May.
Nathalie Loiseau, France’s minister for European affairs, in January announced plans for Macron to come to Poland in the first half of this year.
Loiseau was quoted as saying at the time that Polish-French relations currently do not meet the expectations of either nation given their “common history and friendship.”
It is not known when a new date will be agreed for the French president to travel to Poland, Rzeczpospolita reported.
