Conservative leader sceptical over any thaw in Poland-Russia relations

The leader of Poland’s ruling conservatives has said he does not expect Moscow to make a move to improve relations with Warsaw in the near future.

Jarosław Kaczyński, head of the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party, said: "It would have to be Russia's decision, a decision by Russia that it’s changing its attitude towards Poland."
In an interview with Poland’s Radio Wnet broadcaster, he added: "Can such a strategic decision be expected? It seems to me that this may be very difficult.”
Kaczyński said, however, that it was not in Poland's interests to be locked in a sharp dispute with Russia.
Among issues souring relations between the two countries is Moscow’s refusal to return the wreckage of a Polish presidential plane that crashed in western Russia in 2010.
The crash killed Polish President Lech Kaczyński -- Jarosław Kaczyński’s twin brother -- and 95 others, including top military officials.
