A representation of the EU is already stationing in the eastern city, and as Poland takes over presidency of the EU in July, this is one of the reasons for also opening a post there.
Polish diplomats left Libya in March and the diplomatic post in Tripoli was closed.
Since that time, Ambassador Wojciech Bożek has visited Benghazi several times. Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, also visited the city in mid-May, announcing a stronger presence of Polish diplomats for the future.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that at least 50 Libyan mid-level officials or civil servants are to be hosted in Poland for training. (ek/pg)
