A Polish orchestra will be putting a twist on iconic UK rock group Queen in Warsaw this weekend, accompanied by a 19-member choir.
“Symphonic Queen” is set to be performed on Sunday at Warsaw's Palladium Theatre by the Alla Vienna Orchestra and Vivid Singers.
Among the feats of the evening will be a full performance of Queen's challenging hit "Bohemian Rhapsody", which the group did not even attempt to play live in full, preferring instead to use a pre-recorded version for the operatic section.
Following the first half of the concert, the musicians will abandon their old school instruments and go electric, in which they will be joined by actor Mariusz Ostrowski in the role of frontman Freddie Mercury.
The Warsaw concert follows on from the success of performances in Krakow, Wroclaw and Poznan earlier this year.
Meanwhile, British film-maker Stephen Frears (Dangerous Liaisons, The Queen) has been tipped to direct Sacha Baron-Cohen of Borat fame in a biopic of the UK group's charismatic frontman. (nh)
