Dubbed a tragicomedy, Kox's film takes a fantastical spin on the premise of forging a relationship with the girl next door.

The movie follows the plight of two brothers in a drab Warsaw housing estate.

Tomek is devoted to his brother Jacek, who is shy yet explosive, owing to a neurological disease.

Besides caring for his brother, Tomek also wants to find time to play the Casanova around town, but finding a step-in carer is not always easy.

In comes somewhat drug-addled neighbour Magda, who lives in the magical world of her own imagination, and the newcomer manages to connect with troubled soul Jacek.

Kox's film has already won acclaim in his native country as one of the best Polish debuts in recent years, winning the Golden Frog at the 2013 edition of the Camerimage Festival.

Thanks to the latest award, the movie will be distributed in Italian cinemas, and Kox has the chance to do the post-production of his next project at an Italian studio. (nh)
