According to a statement released by CD Projekt RED , the game will now be released on 19 May 2015.

"We owe you an apology,'' the company announced.

''We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future.

''The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, [and] key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production.

''Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected.

''When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly,'' the company reflected.

The series has been so popular that President Bronislaw Komorowski chose to give a PC version of The Witcher II to U.S. President Barack Obama, when the American leader visited Poland in May 2011.

The games are based on the work of Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski, and the kingdom of Temeria that he created, and monster-slayer monster-slayer Geralt. (nh)
