After a day of rest today, the orchestra is billed to perform in Middlesborough tomorrow and will then go on to Nottingham, Southend, Coventry, Newbury, Sheffield, Cardiff, London, Basingstoke and Bristol, where the tour ends on 22 May.
The programme of all but one concert (in Nottingham) includes Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and, alternately, Schubert’s Third Symphony and Karol Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater.
In the last four concerts, the Warsaw Philharmonic is joined by the Warsaw Philharmonic Chorus.
The programme of the concert in Nottingham (on 13 May) includes Chopin’s E-minor Concerto (with Noriko Ogawa as the soloist) and Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. All the concerts are conducted by the Music Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Jacek Kaspszyk.
It is the 142nd foreign tour in the history of the Warsaw Philharmonic which was founded in 1901. (mk/nh)
