“This is a trip which will widen your horizons. When you return, nothing will be impossible,” the head of the Polish Scouting Association, Małgorzata Sinica, told the scouts before they flew from Poland.
A group of Poles also travelled to Japan by bicycle, covering a distance of over 12,000 kilometres in seven months.
“Our aim was to promote the idea of scouting and meeting with the Polish community,” said Zbigniew Sas, the leader of one of the stages.
He added the trek was held in an attempt to promote Poland’s candidacy to host the Jamboree in 2023.
The jamboree this year was attended by some 40,000 scouts from 180 countries around the world.
The scouting movement was founded in 1907 by Robert Baden-Powell. (rg)
