According to director of TVP2 Maciej Chmiel, the serial, which has a working title of '2050', will depict a Poland that Dutch, French and German citizens flock to to find work, rather than vice versa.

“The serial is inspired by the idea of playing with stereotypes,” Chmiel told portal wirtualnemedia.pl.

Indeed, the production is set to open with Poland defeating Brazil in the World Cup, an eventuality that is a trifle out of key with the current standing of the Polish team.

Chmiel enthused that he had had “a very positive reaction” to the project while at TV industry fair MIPTV in Cannes last week.

The idea for the serial came from screenwriter Marcin Baczyński ('Letters to Santa 2', 'Karol who became a Saint'). He has already written scripts for a few of the episodes. (nh)
