The awards, which are named after Polish-French composer Fryderyk Chopin, are voted on by about 1000 music industry insiders, members of the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (ZPAV).
Kora (Olga Sipowicz), who won a 'Golden Fryderyk', is best known for her work with Kraków band Maanam, which was founded in 1976.
The band began by playing in a mystical, laid back vein, but later switched to a more urgent rock style, chiming in with the new wave.

Meanwhile another seasoned performer, Zbigniew Wodecki, beat off competition from younger talents, in two awards for last year's crop of releases.
He won the 'Pop Album of the Year' award for '1976: A Space Oddyssey', a joint project with the Mitch & Mitch Orchestra and Choir.
The combo also triumphed in the 'Song of the Year' award, with 'Rzuć to wszystko, co złe' ('Chuck out everything that's bad').
Other winners included Dawid Posiadło, for 'Video of the Year' for 'W dobrą stronę.' ('On the good side').
The full list of winners can be found on the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry's official website. (nh/pk)
