The opening gala is dedicated to Roman Polański, one of Poland’s most famous film directors, and will feature top Polish jazz artists like Tomasz Stańko and Maciej Obara.
They will be accompanied by the Polish National Radio Symphonic Orchestra.
During the concert, the artists will play a selection of film music from Polański’s movies composed by Poland’s Krzysztof Komeda (the theme for “Rosemary’s Baby) and Wojciech Kilar (“The Pianist”), as well as Enio Morricone’s “Frantic theme”.
The Film Music Festival is being held in the southern Polish cities of Kraków and Katowice.
The festival is the biggest of its kind in Poland. It runs until Monday, May 30. (tf/pk)
