According to a study by the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) breaking down the expenditures of Polish households in 2015, the monthly net income per person, including non-wage earners, was PLN 1,386 (EUR 313/USD 353).

The figure was 4.3 percent up on 2014.

The report found that last year, food and non-alcoholic beverages accounted for almost a quarter (24 percent) of the monthly spending per person in Polish households.

However, this figure has fallen from 27.8 percent in 2004.

Housing and energy expenses account for 20 percent of monthly expenditures.

Poles spend 4.2 percent on eating out and hotel accommodation, 2.5 percent on alcohol and only a meagre 1 percent on education. (mol/pk)
