Celebrating Canadian culture in Kraków

“The Icons and Symbols of Canada” is the theme of the Canadian Culture Festival which opens in Kraków on Wednesday.

The lectures, panels and debates focus on such topics as the maple leaf on the Canadian flag, the Canadian beaver and the fur trade, Canada as a monarchy, and hockey as a national sport.
The programme also includes panels titled: “Why the world has fallen in love with Canada’s PM? The political leadership of Justin Trudeau”. “Symbol and antisymbol: Justin Bieber and Canada”, and “Mixed legal systems in Canada – iconic and unique or just like the others?”.
The three-day event, held in Kraków for the fifth time, is organised by the American Studies Students’ Research Society of the Jagiellonian University in cooperation with the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora. (mk/rg)
