The contest in the city of Lausanne attracted 67 dancers from around the world.

Twenty of them competed in Saturday’s finals. The nine-member jury was chaired by Kevin O’Hare, the director of the Royal Ballet in London.

The eight winners have the unique opportunity to choose among the 68 prestigious partner schools and companies of the Prix de Lausanne.

Eighteen-year-old Stanisław Węgrzyn graduated from Warsaw’s ballet school and is continuing his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.

In 2014, he won a special jury award at the International Dance Competition in Riga. (mk/pk)
