Polish children's book to help Syria

A children's book entitled “My wonderful childhood in Aleppo” has been launched to help the Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) charity's campaign to provide aid to Syria.

Written by Grzegorz Gortat, it tells the story of an eight-year-old Syrian girl and her family in war-torn Aleppo.
Gortat said that war is a difficult subject but it is worth facing, adding that “turning a blind eye does not mean that reality ceases to exist”.
“But we can try to sensitise children to modern-world phenomena, speak to them about it in a way they understand,” the author added.
The publisher has pledged to hand over to PAH all profits from the book's sale.
PAH has been in Syria since 2013, regularly providing drinkable water and food to more than 300,000 people.
According to UN data, half of the 13.5 million living in Syria are in need of aid. (vb)
