Pole to take over as music director of German philharmonic orchestra

Polish conductor Ewa Strusińska has been appointed General Music Director of the Neue Lausitzer Philharmonie, a German philharmonic orchestra based in the cities of Zittau and Goerlitz on the German-Polish border.

Strusińska will take over the post from Italian conductor Andrea Sanguinetti at the start of the 2018/2019 season.
Forty-one year-old Strusińska is among leading Polish conductors of her generation. She has previously served as Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Szczecin, north-western Poland, and as assistant conductor of the Halle Orchestra in Manchester, England.
She has worked closely with many Polish and foreign orchestras and opera companies, including the National Opera in Warsaw and the Royal Ballet at London’s Covent Garden.
She is a prizewinner of the prestigious Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition in Bamberg, Germany.
