One million visitors to brewery museum in southern Poland

The Żywiec Brewery Museum in southern Poland has welcomed its one millionth visitor.

The visitor, a woman from the nearby town of Bielsko-Biała, was given the red-carpet treatment by the museum managers. She was presented with a bagful of souvenirs, including a huge crystal mug with an engraved sign saying “One millionth visitor.”
The history of the Żywiec brewery goes back to the mid-19th century, when Poland was under foreign rule. The founder and first owner of the brewery was Archduke Albrecht Friedrich Habsburg, grandson of Austrian Emperor Leopold II.
The museum opened in 2006 on the 150th anniversary of the brewery. Located in its former ageing cellars, it offers insights into all stages of beer production and the development of the Żywiec brand up to the present.
