Also competing are six Polish song-and-dance groups and two representing the Polish American community in Chicago.
They are being judged by an international jury, with awards to be given out in three categories.
A prizewinners’ show is scheduled for Saturday, the final day of the festival, which also includes events such as exhibitions of folk arts and crafts, workshops and a display of folk instruments.
First held in 1968, the International Highland Folklore Festival in Zakopane is now in its 50th year.
