The company, which was founded in Minnesota in 1954, has invested 100 million zloty (23.8 million euro) in the Opole venture, and it aims to manufacture 25,000 vehicles in 2015.

The factory has been built on a 12-hectare plot within the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone.

Vehicles made in Opole will mainly supply markets in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

130 people are employed at the Opole plant at present, but Polaris plans to expand the workforce to 500.

Besides the Opole factory, Polaris has plants in the United States, Mexico and India. (nh)
