The Polish unit of Portuguese Jeronimo Martins issued a statement saying that it is not conducting online store tests.

On Monday, daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna quoted its sources as saying that the network was doing pilot phase tests concerning the possibility of ordering goods online and then collecting them at a chosen store.

“We would like to emphasize that we are not currently conduct any online store tests,” the retailer said.

“As we have said many times, we are carefully observing changes on the market.

“It is first of all the customers and their preferences and expectations that have impact on our activity.”

The company said it was taking into consideration the advantages and limitations provided by e-commerce and was now observing and preparing tools for possible future involvement in the segment.

Meanwhile food sector website Portalspozywczy.pl reported that the Biedronka network is preparing a new strategy that will introduce hundreds of new products to its 2,500 stores across Poland. (kw)
