“The Wristy is not a smartwatch: it has its own SIM card and telephone number,” Rafał Czernik, one of the founders, told Polish Radio.

The Wristy is a phone which could be used by children at school, as it can only be configured to dial a set amount of numbers and can only be programmed through a computer interface.

“The point was to create a product which has functions important for parents: a long-lasting battery, a few pre-defined numbers and vibrating communication which would not disturb pupils during class,” said Czernik, who founded the device along with partner Elżbieta Jarmusz.

The Wristy is set to retail for under PLN 300, with mobile operators expected to set up special tarifs for the phone’s operation. (jb)
