The company based in Luxembourg has already invested some PLN 5 billion in the country.

Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz is set to present the government’s plan for aiding Poalnd's industry in April, and this could make or break the decision by ArcelorMittal to further pump funds into the country.

“[ArcelorMittal Poland] wants to expand a rolling mill in Kraków, and possibly construct an additional galvanizing plant,” one anonymous expert told Puls Biznesu.

The rolling mill was constructed a few years ago at a cost of PLN 1.2 billion. The estimated cost of the expansion is estimated to cost PLN 150-200 million. Added to this, the company will also repair the blast furnace at the Kraków plant.

Company representatives did not comment on the issue.

Puls Biznesu learned that over the next few days, the company is planning to meet government officials to discuss scenarios for the future of the steel sector in Poland. (rg)
