“Poland is interested in a larger engagement of Emirati capital in Poland, its entry on the Warsaw bourse and industrial investments,” Piechociński said.
Minister Piechociński is accompanied by a business delegation in the UAE, where he is to meet official representatives to discuss deeper economic cooperation.
The minister also took part in the Poland-UAE Business Forum, meeting with his Emirati opposite number Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori.
Speaking to journalists while in Abu Dhabi, Piechociński underlined that trade between the two countries has grown by 40-50 percent year-on-year.
“[Poland] sells a lot of electronic goods to the UAE, and trade is also gaining momentum in the agricultural sector, with food exports also growing,” Piechociński said, highlighting Emirati interest in Polish confectionary and apples.
According to the minister, sectors with the greatest perspective for cooperation include pharmaceuticals, agriculture, biotechnologies and renewables. The IT sector is also making headway with market penetration, Piechociński said.
Apart from trade, Piechociński also mulled the possibility of luring Emirati capital to the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
The UAE is Poland’s main partner in the Gulf region. In 2014, trade turnover between the two countries stood at USD 1.29 billion, the majority of which comprised Polish exports to the Arab country. (jb)
