Since the European Union introduced a trade embargo with Russia, Poland has been trying to diversify its export markets.
The Czech Republic is the biggest recipient of Polish cheese, receiving EUR 81 million, exceeding the EUR 67.2 million exported to Germany.
Russia has dropped to third place to EUR 67.6 million.
According to data by the Agriculture Ministry, in 2014, Poland exported 205 metric tonnes of cheese at a combined value of EUR 657 million.
Poland’s cheese-export market is still among the largest in the EU, although it has dropped slightly from the record-high 2013, when a total of EUR 691.8 million in cheese was sold abroad. (rg)
