Exports in the period January-May 2015 were up 6.2 percent year-on-year to EUR 72.01 billion, while imports rose 0.9 percent year-on-year to EUR 69.13 billion, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.

The trade balance was thus positive at EUR 2.87 billion, compared to minus EUR 736.8 million after five months of 2014.

Trade with Poland’s top ten trading partners in the period accounted for 66.0 percent of total exports and 66.1 percent of total imports (compared with 65.2 percent and 67.0 percent, respectively, last year).

Polish exports to Germany increased 8.5 percent year-on-year to EUR 19.4 billion in January-May this year, while imports were up 6.2 percent year-on-year to EUR 15.8 billion, GUS reported.

Germany's share of Polish exports increased by 0.6 percentage points from January-May last year to 27 percent, while imports increased by 1.1 percentage points to 22.8 percent.

The share of developed countries in total exports amounted to 85.8 percent (including EU 79.4 percent), in imports 66.8 percent (including EU 60.0 percent), against - respectively - 84.2 percent (including EU 77.1 percent) and 65.6 percent (including EU 58.9 percent) in the corresponding period of the previous year.
