Poland's trade surplus up in first half of 2015

In the first half of the year Poland noted a PLN 11.96 billion surplus in foreign trade, after a PLN 4.052 billion deficit a year ago.

The Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported that exports increased by 6.3 percent and imports by 1.6 percent year-on-year.
"In the first half of this year, exports at current prices amounted to PLN 363.299 billion, and imports PLN 351.33 billion. The positive balance stood at PLN 11.966 billion, compared to minus PLN 4.052 billion in the previous year," GUS said in a statement.
Exports expressed in euros amounted to EUR 87.175 billion and imports EUR 84.297 billion, with a positive balance of EUR 2.877 billion compared to minus EUR 970.6 million after six months of last year.
The share of developed countries in total exports amounted to 85.8 percent (including to the EU 79.5 percent). In imports it was 66.8 percent (including to the EU 60 percent.)
Germany's share in exports increased compared with January-June of last year by 0.9 percentage points and stood at 27 percent, while imports increased by 1.1 percentage points to 22.8 percent.
Russia's share in exports fell compared with the period January-June last year by 1.5 pp and stood at 2.8 percent, while imports were lower by 3.4 pct at 7.8 percent of total imports. (jh/rk)
