Last year, Poland exported over 1 million tonnes of apples.
However, it has been compelled to find new markets, with Russia - hitherto the biggest buyer - having suspended imports on 1 August 2014.
“The agreement which opens the Vietnamese market to Polish apples is very important for us,” Minister Sawicki said on Friday.
The ministry hopes to export about 100,000 tonnes per year to the Southeast Asian country.
Poland has recently launched exports of apples to other Asian destinations, including India, Bangladesh and Singapore. (nh/rk)
