The Law and Justice (PiS) government has dismissed Tomasz Półgrabski, the head of the PL.2012+ company which manages Poland’s National Stadium in Warsaw.

Półgrabski will be replaced by a long-time PiS party member, Jakub Marcin Opara, who had previously worked as an aide to former president Lech Kaczyński.

This will be the first time the National Stadium has ended the fiscal year in the black since opening its doors for the Euro 2012 championships.

The stadium has hosted a multitude of sports, social, cultural and business events. PL.2012 organised 27 major events in 2015 alone, generating an income of over PLN 46 million.

This is the latest in a series of changes among the heads of companies overseen by the government. (rg/pk)
