Economic plan aims to improve Poles’ lives, reduce poverty: Polish President

Andrzej Duda said that the most important tasks ahead of the government include improving the lives of Poles, limiting the “dramatic phenomenon of poverty,” which, he said, will contribute to the effective implementation of the constitutional principle of sustainable development of the country.

“What will also happen, I hope, is to young people from leaving Poland, providing them with a chance of building a career professional in our country,” President Duda said. He added that he hopes that Poles who are abroad for economic reasons return to Poland after the economy improves.

The plan, better known as the Morawiecki Plan, after deputy Prime Minister and Development Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, is roadmap to improve the Polish economy over the next couple of decades.

The 87-person National Development Council was appointed in October by Polish President Andrzej Duda to advise and assist with “strategic solutions”. Its first meeting was on Monday. (rg)
