OKD, which owns several coal mines on the Czech-Polish border, is in debt to the tune of some PLN 3 billion, Polish Radio reported.
Nearly 2,000 Polish workers travel to work every day in mines in the neighbouring Czech Republic.
They will not be entitled to assistance from the Czech government because they are not directly employed by OKD but by an external company. (pk)
